Ignition When Starting Engine

When starting engine, with engine speeds up to 600 RPM, ignition timing is controlled by the trailing edge of the segments on the flexplate and crankshaft position sensor. When engine speed reaches approximately 800 RPM, transition from fixed ignition timing to ignition timing controlled by engine control module is achieved. The engine control module uses engine coolant temperature, engine speed/crankshaft position/ignition circuit recognition, and camshaft position to control ignition timing after start.
