Vehicle Speed Signal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300E. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Vehicle speed signal is transmitted from the Anti-Lock Brake System/Acceleration Slip Regulation (ABS/ASR) module to electronic accelerator control module (with ASR), or from the ABS control module to cruise control/idle speed control module (without ASR). Vehicle speed signal is then transmitted from respective module through Controller Area Network (CAN) to engine control module. The engine control module uses vehicle speed signal to control deceleration fuel injection shutoff, engine RPM limiter, 2-3 upshift delay, and drive shaft maximum RPM limitation.
