EZL/AKR Ignition Control Unit Malfunction Memory Function
Malfunctions are assigned a specific value according to severity. As an example the hot-wire air mass sensor is assigned a value of 128 and coolant temperature sensor is 32. The malfunction counter has a threshold of 128. If a malfunction occurs with the coolant temperature sensor, it would have to occur 4 times to reach malfunction counter threshold of 128. Malfunction counter will only store a fault when its threshold is reached. Malfunction counter stores faults when ignition is turned off. If hot-wire air mass sensor fails (assigned value of 128), malfunction is immediately stored by malfunction counter when ignition is turned off.
If malfunction is no longer present when engine is started or running, malfunction counter is reduced by one every time engine is turned off. This procedure is repeated until malfunction counter is cleared.
