Controller Area Network (CAN)

The LH control unit, electronic accelerator control module or cruise control/idle speed control module, diagnostic module (California Only), and EZL/AKR ignition control unit are linked by CAN. All control modules are networked in parallel by 2 wires.

Data is exchanged continuously in the form of information blocks. Transmissions from one control module are received by all other control modules. Control modules only interpret information which is required by that specific control module. Using CAN deletes any need for redundant sensors.
