Symptom Diagnosis
Symptom checks cannot be used properly unless the problem occurs while the vehicle is being tested. To reduce diagnostic time, ensure steps in BASIC TESTING and appropriate TESTS W/CODES articles in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section were performed before diagnosing a symptom. Symptoms available for diagnosis include the following:
* Engine Hard To Start
* Engine Surges At Idle
* Engine Has Rough Idle When Warm
* Engine Misfiring Under Load
* Engine Has Low Power
* Excessive Fuel Consumption
* Engine Will Not Shut Off
* White Or Blue Exhaust Smoke
* Incorrect Idle Speed
* Engine Speed Will Not Increase
* Fuel Injection Pump Runs Hot
