Steering Column: Removal
- Disconnect battery ground cable. On 300TD, remove screws retaining upper and lower cover on instrument panel, and remove covers. Remove steering wheel.CAUTION: Use extreme care when working on, or around steering wheel (it contains air bag unit).
- Remove instrument cluster by pulling outward as far as possible, and loosening tachometer, temperature, and oil pressure connections.
- Remove steering lock. Disconnect wiring connectors. Remove Allen head screw from flexible coupling, and all nuts and screws retaining casing and column to dashboard. Remove steering column housing.
