ENGINE SHUT-DOWN (All Models): Notes

To shut off engine, turn key to position "1" or "O". A cam-operated valve, attached to starter switch opens, connecting the vacuum line from the vacuum pump to the injection pump. See Figure.

Diaphragm of pump-mounted vacuum control unit reacts, pulling main rack to "stop" position. If engine fails to stop, push "stop" lever on cylinder head. This manually moves main rack to "stop" position. See REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , VACUUM CONTROL UNIT and Fig 2.
