TCM Removal/Installation
CAUTION:
- Do not drop or apply a shock to the TCM. Replace the TCM if it has been dropped or received an impact.
- Make sure that your hand does not touch the terminal as the connector terminal could be damaged.
- Water or foreign objects entering the connector can cause a poor connection or corrosion. Be sure not to drop water or foreign objects on the connector when disconnecting it.
- If the TCM is replaced with a new one, perform the configuration after replacing it.
- If configuration is not performed, the system does not operate normally.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Remove the TCM.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Perform the [Initial Learning] (TCM replacement). (See INITIAL LEARNING PROCEDURE [SJ6A-EL] .)
- When replacing the TCM, perform the TCM configuration using the M-MDS.
- Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
- Perform the following procedure using the M-MDS.CAUTION:
- If the configuration fails, perform the configuration again.
- Press [Start] for the vehicle identification.
- Press the [Toolbox] tab.
- Press the [Work Support] icon.
- Press [Configuration].
- Press [Run] for [Configuration].
- Press [Other].
- Perform the servicing following the instructions on the screen.NOTE:
- When performing the configuration, CAN communication is cut temporarily and communication error DTCs may be detected. After performing the configuration, perform the DTC inspection and clear DTCs if any are displayed.
- Perform the DTC inspection. (Refer to [DTC INSPECTION
] in the troubleshooting information)
- If a DTC is displayed, clear it. (Refer to [CLEARING DTC ] in the troubleshooting information)
- If the DTC is displayed again, repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
- If the configuration fails, perform the configuration procedure again.
