Diagnostic Procedure

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES (SKYACTIV-G) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	VERIFY PCM DTCs Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Are any DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G)] .)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable circuit. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .) Is the circuit normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
3	INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT AND BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable circuit. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .) Is the circuit normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
4	INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) AND PCM FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable circuit. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .) Is the circuit normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
5	VERIFY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSPECTION in service information.) Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?	Yes	Complete the symptom troubleshooting. (Explain contents of repair to customer)
Repair completion verification 1		No	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM. (Refer to PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0] in service information.)
