Diagnostic Procedure

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES (SKYACTIV-G) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 VERIFY PCM DTCs 
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.

    (See DTC INSPECTION .)

  • Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
(See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G)] .)
No Go to the next step.
2 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
3 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT AND BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
4 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) AND PCM FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
5 VERIFY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
Repair completion verification 1 VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED 
  • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
  • Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?
Yes Complete the symptom troubleshooting. (Explain contents of repair to customer)
No Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
