Propeller Shaft Removal/Installation: Notes

CAUTION:
- If the constant velocity joint is bent during propeller shaft removal/installation or transportation after servicing, the constant velocity joint boot may contact the metallic cover and the boot may be damaged. Insert a rag between the boot and the metallic cover before servicing to protect the boot
- Remove the floor under cover No. 1. (See FLOOR UNDER COVER NO. 1 (LH) .)
- Remove the floor under cover No. 2. (See FLOOR UNDER COVER NO. 2 (LH) .)
- Remove the fasteners in the order shown in the figure below.
- Remove the insulator.
- Remove the following parts.
- Brace bar
- Tunnel member
- For VIN M (With cylinder deactivation) vehicles, perform the following procedure.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the TWC from the mount rubber.
- Disconnect the exhaust shutter valve connector.
- Disconnect the wiring harness clips.
- Remove the nut.
- Disconnect the bracket from the TWC.
- Disconnect the TWC from the main silencer. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [VIN M (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION)] .)
- Suspend the TWC using a cable as shown in the figure below.
- For VIN Y vehicles, perform the following procedure.
- Remove the nut.
- Disconnect the bracket from the TWC.
- Remove the TWC from the mount rubber.
- Disconnect the TWC from the main silencer. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [VIN Y] .)
- Suspend the TWC using a cable as shown in the figure below.

- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Disconnect the quick release connector from the urea injector.
- Remove the clip.
- Remove the bolts.
- Set the bracket aside.
- Remove the SCR converter from the mount rubber.
- Disconnect the SCR converter from the main silencer.
- Suspend the SCR converter using a cable as shown in the figure below.
- Remove in the order indicated in the figure below.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Perform a road test and verify that there is no abnormal vibration or noise.PROPELLER SHAFT COMPONENT OPERATIONS
