Rear Door Glass Removal/Installation: Notes

  1. Fully open the rear door glass.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  3. Remove the following parts.
    1. Power window subswitch component (rear) (See POWER WINDOW SUBSWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Rear door trim (See REAR DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Rear inner handle (See INNER HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Rear door quarter glass (See REAR DOOR QUARTER GLASS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Connect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  5. Connect the power window subswitch connector.
  6. Perform the rear door glass preparation. (See REAR DOOR GLASS PREPARATION .)
    NOTE:
    • Before removing the rear door glass, the removal procedure for the rear door glass installation bolt can be facilitated by adjusting the top of the rear door glass to the position approx. 130 mm {5.12 in} away from the upper part of the rear beltline molding.
  7. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  8. Disconnect the power window subswitch connector.
  9. Disconnect the connector.

  10. While pressing the tab of wiring harness clip A in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure below, move wiring harness clip A in the direction of arrow (2) and remove it.
    CAUTION:
    • When removing the service hole cover, insert the remover tool so as not to damage the seal rubber.
  11. Insert a remover tool into the position shown in the figure below, move it in the direction of the arrow below, and detach the tabs from the rear door panel.

  12. Remove the grommet.

  13. Move service hole cover No. 1 in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below and remove it while pulling out the inner handle cable.
  14. Apply protective tape along the edges of the service hole cover installation holes to prevent damage.

    CAUTION:
    • If the bolts are removed or installed without supporting the rear door glass with your hand, the rear door glass may fall off and be damaged. To remove or install the bolts, insert your hand through the service hole cover installation hole and support it with your hand to prevent the rear door glass from falling.
  15. Remove bolt.

  16. Move the rear door glass in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure below.

  17. Tilt the rear door glass in the direction of arrow (2) and move it in the direction of arrow (3) to remove it from the rear door.
  18. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See REAR DOOR GLASS PREPARATION .)
  19. Perform the power window system initialization. (See POWER WINDOW SYSTEM INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE .)
