Trunk Side Trim Removal/Installation: Notes

NOTE:
  • Surrounding parts can be removed without having to remove the trunk side trim from the vehicle. If the trunk side trim is not to be removed from the vehicle, refer to [Procedure For Partially Peeling Back Trunk Side Trim]. (See PROCEDURE FOR PARTIALLY PEELING BACK TRUNK SIDE TRIM .)
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the following parts:
    1. Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. D-pillar trim (See D-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. When replacing the tire house trim (LH), perform the following procedure.
    1. Remove the rear buckle (LH). (See REAR BUCKLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Remove the rear center seat belt anchor. (See REAR BUCKLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Remove the following parts:
    1. Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Rear seat back (See REAR SEAT BACK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Tire house trim (See TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Partially peel back the weatherstrip.

  6. Using the remover tool, detach tabs and guides shown in the figure below from the trunk side trim. (without remote handle lever)

  7. Remove the cover. (without remote handle lever)
  8. Insert a remover tool into the position shown in the figure below, then release the tabs and remove the cap from the remote handle lever. (with remote handle lever)

  9. Remove the screw. (with remote handle lever)

  10. Remove the remote handle lever from the trunk side trim. (with remote handle lever)
  11. Remove the bolts.

  12. Remove the cargo net hooks.
  13. Remove the fasteners.

  14. Remove the screw.

  15. Move the trunk side trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below and remove the clips.

  16. Disconnect the connectors. (Left side only)

  17. Remove the trunk side trim.
  18. Install in the reverse order of removal.
