DTC U0402-68: Error Signal Received From TCM/Selector Lever

U0402-68: (VCM) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Error signal received from TCM/selector lever
Detection condition
  • The vehicle control module (VCM) receives a shift position error signal from the TCM/selector lever.
Fail-safe (See DTC TABLE [VCM] .)
Possible cause
  1. Internal malfunction related DTCs are stored in the following modules.
  2. DTCs are stored in the TCM/selector lever. (See DTC TABLE [TCM] .)
  3. TCM/selector lever malfunction (Refer to CONTROL VALVE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [EV6A-EL, EV6AX-EL] , or CONTROL VALVE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6AX-EL] in service information.) (Refer to SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
  4. Vehicle control module (VCM) malfunction (built into body control module (BCM)) (Refer to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
Repeatability verification procedure
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
