Rear Outer Handle Removal/Installation: Notes
- Fully close the rear door glass.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the following parts:
- Power window subswitch (See POWER WINDOW SUBSWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear door trim (See REAR DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear inner handle (See INNER HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the connector.CAUTION:
- When removing the service hole cover, insert the remover tool so as not to damage the seal rubber.
- Detach the service hole cover tabs from the body using a remover tool.
- Remove the clips.
- Remove the grommet.
- Pull the door lock knob cable and the inner handle cable from the service hole cover.
- Remove the service hole cover. (See SERVICE HOLE COVER INSTALLATION NOTE .)
- Remove the service hole cover.
- Loosen the screw.
- Pull the rear outer handle in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below, and detach the rear outer handle bracket tab from the rear outer handle.
- Remove the rear outer handle in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below.
- Remove the cap.
- Loosen the screw securing the rear outer handle bracket.NOTE:
- The screw cannot be removed because the rear outer handle bracket has a stopper which prevents the screw from falling.
- Pull the rear outer handle bracket in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below and detach the rear outer handle bracket hook from the body.
- Lift the rear outer handle bracket in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below and pull out the rod from the rod holder. (See REAR OUTER HANDLE BRACKET INSTALLATION NOTE .)
- Remove the rear outer handle bracket.
- Remove the handle sheet from the body.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
