DTC U0428-86: Error Signal Received From Steering Angle Sensor

U0428-86: (ALH/AFS/ALV) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Error signal received from steering angle sensor
Detection condition  
  • The adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module/adaptive LED headlights control module received error signal from the steering angle sensor.
Fail-safe  
  • Control of the headlight auto leveling system is continued.
  • Perform the following controls with the adaptive LED headlights turned on. (with adaptive LED headlights)
    • Turn off glare-free high beam.
    • Set wide-range low beam as basic light distribution.
Possible cause  
  1. Steering angle sensor related DTCs are stored in the body control module (BCM). (See DTC TABLE [BCM] .)
  2. Steering angle sensor malfunction (Refer to CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
  3. Adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module/adaptive LED headlights control module malfunction (Refer to ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM (AFS) CONTROL MODULE INSPECTION in service information.) (Refer to [ADAPTIVE LED HEADLIGHTS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in service information.)
Repeatability verification procedure  
  1. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
