- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the following parts.
- Liftgate upper trim (See LIFTGATE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Liftgate side trim (See LIFTGATE SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Liftgate recess (See LIFTGATE RECESS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Door lock switch (liftgate) (With door lock switch (liftgate)) (See DOOR LOCK SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Power liftgate (PLG) rear switch (With power liftgate (PLG) rear switch) (See POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) REAR SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Liftgate lower trim (See LIFTGATE LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Side spoiler (See SIDE SPOILER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear spoiler (See REAR SPOILER REMOVAL .)
- Rear finisher (See REAR FINISHER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear wiper arm and blade (See REAR WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear wiper motor (See REAR WIPER MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Outer bushing (See REAR WIPER MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Glass antenna terminal cover (See ANTENNA FEEDER NO. 2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Apply protective tape along the edges of the liftgate panel and rear window glass.NOTE:
- Overlap and apply the protective tape to the corners to prevent damage to the liftgate panel.
- Make an alignment mark for the rear window glass on the liftgate panel. (When reusing rear window glass)
- Cut the end of the piano wire diagonally.WARNING:
- Using piano wire with bare hands can cause injury. Always wear gloves when using piano wire.
- Pass the piano wire from the cabin side through the sealant.
- Wind each end of the piano wire around a bar.NOTE:
- Since the piano wire can easily break if it is heated locally, cool it or change the area used as you cut the sealant.
- Cut the sealant, being careful not to cut pin B.
- Secure one end of the piano wire and cut the rear window glass sealant and pin A as you pull the other end of the piano wire.
- Pinch pin B from the inside of the vehicle and detach pin B.
- Remove the rear window glass.
- Remove pin A from the liftgate panel.
- Remove the fasteners.
- To reuse the rear window glass, perform the following procedure.
