- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the following parts:
- Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- D-pillar trim (See D-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Trunk side trim (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Cut the quarter window glass molding.
- Apply protective tape along the edges of the body panel and quarter window glass.NOTE:
- Overlap and apply the protective tape to the corners to prevent damage to the body panel.
- Cut the end of the piano wire diagonally.WARNING:
- Using piano wire with bare hands can cause injury. Always wear gloves when using piano wire.
- Pass the piano wire from the cabin side through the sealant.
- Wind each end of the piano wire around a bar.NOTE:
- Since the piano wire can easily break if it is heated locally, cool it or change the area used as you cut the sealant.
- Secure one end of the piano wire and cut the quarter window glass sealant and the pin as you pull the other end of the piano wire.
- Remove the quarter window glass.
- Remove the pin from the body panel.
- Remove the fastener.
