Outer Mirror Glass Removal

NOTE:
  • Removal of the outer mirror glass can be facilitated by warming the back of the glass to approx. 50°C {122°F} to approx. 60°C {140°F} using a heat gun.

CAUTION:
  • Be careful not to overheat the outer mirror, as temperatures higher than 60°C {140°F} could deform it.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. To facilitate removal of the outer mirror glass, orient the power outer mirror in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below.

  3. To prevent scratches or damage, apply protective tape to the positions shown in the figure below.

  4. Move the outer mirror glass in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below to create enough space for your finger to enter.

    CAUTION:
    • When moving the outer mirror glass, if only the mirror glass is moved, the mirror glass could separate from the outer mirror glass holder. Move the outer mirror glass holder together with the mirror glass when moving the outer mirror glass.
  5. Insert your fingers into the area shown in the figure below, and move the outer mirror glass in the direction of the arrow shown below to detach pin A.

  6. Insert your fingers into the backside of the glass same as in step  5 and detach pins B and C.

  7. Remove the wiring harness from hooks A and hook B.

  8. Disconnect the heated outer mirror connectors. (With heated outer mirrors)

  9. Disconnect the auto-dimming outer mirror connector. (With auto-dimming outer mirror)
    CAUTION:
    • If the blind spot monitoring (BSM) warning indicator light connector or the blind spot monitoring (BSM) warning light housing are damaged or deformed, the blind spot monitoring (BSM) warning system indicator may not illuminate due to poor connection. When removing the blind spot monitoring (BSM) warning indicator light connector, be careful not to pry it after inserting the flathead screwdriver.
  10. Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver in the position shown in the figure below and disconnect the blind spot monitoring (BSM) warning indicator light connector.

  11. Remove the outer mirror glass and outer mirror glass holder as a single unit.
