Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) Control Module Removal/Installation

CAUTION:

When replacing the AFS control module, perform the configuration to assure that the system operates correctly. (See CONFIGURATION .)

NOTE:

The AFS control module reads the vehicle attitude angle information and records the vehicle attitude angle while it is unoccupied when the headlight auto leveling system initial setting is performed after the AFS control module is replaced.
Even if the battery is disconnected, the unoccupied vehicle attitude angle recorded by the AFS control module is not erased.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Remove the following parts:
1. Passenger-side decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Passenger-side front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
3. Passenger-side front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
4. Glove compartment (without passenger-side knee air bag module) (See GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
5. Dashboard under cover (See DASHBOARD UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
6. Passenger-side lower panel (See PASSENGER-SIDE LOWER PANEL REMOVAL .) (See PASSENGER-SIDE LOWER PANEL INSTALLATION .)
While pressing the bracket tabs in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure below, pull the AFS control module connector in the direction of arrow (2) and pull out the AFS control module from the bracket.

Disconnect the connector and remove the AFS control module.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
If the AFS control module is replaced, perform the following procedure.
1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) to complete the AFS control module global central configuration (GCC).
2. Clear the DTC. (See CLEARING DTC .)
3. Perform the headlight auto leveling system initial setting. (See HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM INITIALIZATION .)
