Front Door Glass Removal/Installation: Notes

Replacement parts 

Service hole cover No. 1
Quantity: 1
Location of use: Front door panel
Grommet
Quantity: 3
Location of use: Front door panel
NOTE:
  • Adjust the position of the front door glass before performing the work of removing it to make it easier to remove the front door glass installation bolts.
  1. Perform the front door glass preparation. (See FRONT DOOR GLASS PREPARATION .)
  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  3. Remove the following parts.
    1. Inner garnish (See INNER GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Power window main switch component (to remove from driver's side) (See POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Power window subswitch component (to remove from passenger's side) (See POWER WINDOW SUBSWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Front door trim (See FRONT DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Front inner handle (See INNER HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Door-electrical supply unit (See DOOR-ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Pull up the front door weatherstrip in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below and remove it.

  5. Disconnect the connectors.

  6. While pressing the tab of wiring harness clip A in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure above, move wiring harness clip A in the direction of arrow (2) and remove it.
  7. While pressing the tab of wiring harness clip B in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure above, move wiring harness clip B in the direction of arrow (2) and remove it.
  8. Remove the screws.

  9. Insert the remover tool into the positions shown in the figure below.

  10. Push the tab of service hole cover No. 1 in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure above to detach the service hole cover No. 1 from the front door panel.
  11. Remove the service hole cover No. 1.
  12. Remove the grommets.

  13. Insert the remover tool into the positions shown in the figure below.

  14. Push the tab of service hole cover No. 2 in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below to detach the service hole cover No. 2 from the front door panel.
  15. Remove the grommet from service hole cover No. 2.

  16. Move service hole cover No. 2 in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure above and pull it out of the inner handle cable.
  17. Apply protective tape along the edges of the service hole cover installation holes to prevent damage.

    CAUTION:
    • If the bolts are removed or installed without supporting the front door glass with your hand, the front door glass may fall off and be damaged. To remove or install the bolts, insert your hand through the service hole cover installation hole and support it with your hand to prevent the front door glass from falling.
  18. Remove bolt (1).

  19. Remove bolt (2).
  20. Move the front door glass in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure below.

  21. Tilt the front door glass in the direction of arrow (2) and move it in the direction of arrow (3) to remove it from the front door.
  22. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See SERVICE HOLE COVER NO. 2 INSTALLATION NOTE .)
  23. Perform the power window system initialization. (See POWER WINDOW SYSTEM INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE .)
