Location of use: Curtain air bag module
WARNING:
- Handling the curtain air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. - Switch the ignition to off.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the following parts:
- Sunroof seaming welt (with sunroof system) (See SUNROOF UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- A-pillar trim (See A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Front map light (See FRONT MAP LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Sunvisor (See SUNVISOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Lower decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Passenger-side front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Glove compartment (See GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Dashboard under cover (See DASHBOARD UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Passenger-side lower panel (See LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Assist handle (See ASSIST HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)

- Head restraint
- Headliner (See HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the clip. (See CLIP REMOVAL NOTE .)
- Remove bolts A.
- Remove bolt B.
- Remove bolt C.
- Move guide A in the direction of arrow shown in the figure and remove it from the body.
- Move guide B in the direction of arrow shown in the figure and remove it from the body.
- Move guide C in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and remove it from the body.
- Remove the curtain air bag module.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
- Verify that the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.
- If the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See FLOWCHART [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.)] .)
