Clock Spring Inspection [Two-Step Deployment Control System - Us/CANADA Spec.]

- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the following parts:
- Driver-side air bag module (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
- Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the clock spring. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
- Verify that the continuity is as indicated in the table.
- If not as indicated in the table, replace the clock spring. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
NOTE:- When the vehicle-side connector for the clock spring is disconnected, terminals 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D are shorted to prevent unexpected operation (deployment) of the air bag module.
