Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING:
  • During simulation driving, vehicle stability may decrease extremely and cause an accident. Be sure to perform the simulation test driving in a safe area.
FREQUENT FRONT WHEEL SLIP [I-ACTIV AWD SYSTEM (US)] DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 VERIFY DSC HU/CM, PCM, TCM, EPS CONTROL MODULE AND ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT (ESU) DTCs 
  • Verify DSC HU/CM, PCM, TCM, EPS control module and electrical supply unit (ESU) DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Are there any DTCs present?
Yes Go to applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [DSC HU/CM (US)] .) (See DTC TABLE [PCM (VIN M)] .)

(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC TABLE [TCM (EV6AX-EL) (US)] .)

(See DTC TABLE [ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) (US)] .) (See DTC TABLE [BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) (US)] .)
No Go to the next step.
2 VERIFY TIRE AIR PRESSURE  Yes Go to the next step.
No Adjust tire air pressure, then go to the next step.

3 COMPARE WITH SAME MODEL TIRES 
  • Install tires of the same model.
  • Perform simulation driving.
  • Does malfunction recur?
Yes Go to the next step.
No i-ACTIV AWD system is normal.
4 COMPARE WITH SAME MODEL VEHICLE 
  • Install tires of malfunctioning vehicle to another same model vehicle.
  • Perform simulation driving.
  • Does malfunction recur?
Yes i-ACTIV AWD system is normal.
No Go to the next step.
5 INSPECT AWD SOLENOID  Yes Inspect harness between AWD solenoid and electrical supply unit (ESU), then go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification. (See COUPLING COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(US)] .)
6 INSPECT WHEEL ALIGNMENT  Yes Go to the next step.
No Adjust wheel alignment. Perform the repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification VERIFY THAT MALFUNCTION SYMPTOMS DO NOT RECUR AFTER REPAIR 
  • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
  • Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?
Yes Complete the symptom troubleshooting. Explain to the customer what has been repaired.
No Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(US)] .)
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
