Service Cautions For Vehicles With Telematics Communication System [(Us)]: Notes

WARNING:
  • The engine could start unintentionally by the customer making a remote operation accidentally while the vehicle is being serviced. In this case, it could result in serious injuries or, in the worst case, death to a technician as in the following cases. When receiving the customer's vehicle and before performing vehicle maintenance, always switch to connected vehicle maintenance mode.
    • Hand or clothing becomes entangled in cooling fan
    • Poisoning by exhaust gas in enclosed space
CAUTION:
  • The connected vehicle maintenance mode is for restricting the functions of the MyMazda App. Switching to connected vehicle maintenance mode prevents the customer from being notified of the vehicle condition while it is being serviced or the customer making a remote operation (such as engine starting) while the vehicle is being serviced.
  • When returning the vehicle to the customer, always verify that connected vehicle maintenance mode was canceled.
NOTE:
  • There are two types of telematics communication units, type A and type B.
  • The type of the telematics communication unit can be determined using the following procedure.
    1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
    2. Select [Settings] from the home screen of the center display.
    3. Select [System Settings] on the [Settings] screen.
    4. Verify that the [Connected Services] item is displayed on the [System Settings] screen.
      • Type A: The [Connected Services] item is not displayed.
      • Type B: The [Connected Services] item is displayed.
