Liftgate Adjustment

- Measure the gap and height difference between the liftgate and the body.
Standard clearance
a: 4.5-7.5 mm {0.18-0.29 in}
b: -2.5-0.5 mm {-0.09-0.01 in}
c: 3.5-5.5 mm {0.14-0.21 in}
d: -1.1 -0.9 mm {-0.04-0.03 in}
e: 4.0-8.0 mm {0.16-0.31 in}
- If the measured value exceeds the standard clearance, adjust the liftgate using the following procedure:
- Loosen the liftgate hinge installation bolts and adjust the liftgate.
- Tighten the liftgate hinge installation bolts. (See LIFTGATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- If the liftgate does not open/close smoothly, adjust it by loosening the liftgate lock striker installation screw. (See LIFTGATE LOCK STRIKER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Spray or pour water on the door and surrounding area using a hose or high pressure water pressure car wash and verify that there is no water leakage.
- If the measured value exceeds the standard clearance, adjust the liftgate using the following procedure:
