Front Upper Arm Inspection

- When working on the right side of the vehicle, remove the front suspension tower bar (RH). (With front suspension tower bar) (See FRONT SUSPENSION TOWER BAR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- When working on the left side of the vehicle, remove the front suspension tower bar (LH). (With front suspension tower bar) (See FRONT SUSPENSION TOWER BAR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the front upper arm. (See FRONT UPPER ARM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Inspect the front upper arm for bending or damage, and the front upper arm ball joint for excessive looseness.
- If there is any malfunction, replace the front upper arm. (See FRONT UPPER ARM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rotate and shake the front upper arm ball joint 5 times .
- Measure the front upper arm ball joint initial torque and rotational torque using an Allen wrench and a torque wrench.Fig 1: Measuring Front Upper Arm Ball Joint Initial Torque And Rotational Torque Using Allen Wrench And Torque Wrench

Front upper arm ball joint initial torque
- 11 N.m {112 kgf.cm, 97 in.lbf} max.
Front upper arm ball joint rotational torque
- 0.5-2.0 N.m {5.1-20 kgf.cm, 4.5-17 in.lbf}
- If not within the specification, replace the front upper arm. (See FRONT UPPER ARM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
