Disabling Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the selector lever knob. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Remove the shift panel. (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Disconnect the connector.

  5. Wrap cushioning tape around the connector.
    NOTE:
    • To prevent interference between the disconnected connector and the vehicle interior, wrap commercially available cushioning tape (length: 90 mm {3.54 in} x width: 50 mm {1.97 in} x thickness: 5 mm {0.2 in}) around the connector.
  6. Fix the wiring harness with a band at the position shown in the figure.

  7. Install the shift panel. (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  8. Install the selector lever knob. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  9. Connect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
