Steering Switch Removal/Installation

WARNING:
  1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
  2. Open the driver's door.
  3. Switch the ignition OFF.
  4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  5. Remove the driver's air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - MEXICO SPEC.] .)   6. Hold the shaded areas shown in the figure, move the steering switch in the order of arrows (1) and (2) and detach tabs A and B from the steering wheel.

  7. Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure, press the tabs of the wiring harness clips in the order of arrows (1) and (2) and detach the clips from the steering wheel.

  8. Disconnect the steering switch connector.
  9. Remove the steering switch.
  10. Install in the reverse order of removal.
