Crash Zone Sensor Removal/Installation [Standard Deployment Control System]: Notes

WARNING:

Handling the crash zone sensor improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Switch the ignition off.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] .)
Remove the following parts:
1. Set plate (See SET PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Front bumper (See FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL .) (See FRONT BUMPER INSTALLATION .)
3. Radar unit (with mazda radar cruise control (MRCC) system) (See RADAR UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the nut.

Remove the cover.
Remove the bolt.

Disconnect the connector. (See CONNECTOR DISCONNECT NOTE .)
Remove the crash zone sensor.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
Verify that the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.
- If the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See FLOWCHART [SAS CONTROL MODULE (STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .)
