DTC P011A-00: ECT Sensor No. 1/No. 2 Performance Problem: Notes

DTC P011A:00 DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

DTC P011A:00 ECT sensor No. 1/No. 2 performance problem
DETECTION CONDITION Without coolant control valve
  • Any one of the following conditions is met, the PCM detects a circuit/range performance problem:
  • When the ECT sensor No. 2 detected temperature is approx. 25°C {45°F} higher than the ECT sensor No. 1 with the ignition switch is ON *1 .
    • When the ECT sensor No. 2 detected temperature is approx. -28°C {-50°F} less than the ECT sensor No. 1 with the ignition switch is ON *1 . (Without block heater) *2

*1 : Ignition switch is ON when 6 h or more have passed since the ignition was switched off.
*2 : Based on the output value from ECT sensor No. 1 when the engine is started, if the input heat quantity required to increase the engine coolant temperature 3°C {5°F} exceeds the threshold, PCM determines that the block heater is equipped and does not determine a malfunction.
With coolant control valve
  • Any one of the following conditions is met, the PCM detects a circuit/range performance problem:
  • When the ECT sensor No. 2 detected temperature is approx. 28°C {82°F} higher than the ECT sensor No. 1 with the ignition switch is ON.

MONITORING CONDITIONS
  • Period vehicle being left: 6 h or more
    • Battery voltage: 8.0 V or more
  • When the ECT sensor No. 2 detected temperature is approx. -18°C {-0.40°F} less than the ECT sensor No. 1 with the ignition switch is ON.

MONITORING CONDITIONS
  • Engine coolant flow after engine is started: 45 L {48 US qt, 40 Imp qt} or more
  • Engine speed: 500 RPM or more
  • The DTCs are not detected: P0117:00, P0118:00, P2184:00, P2185:00
    • Battery voltage: 8.0 V or more

    Diagnostic support note

  • This is a continuous monitor (engine cooling system).
  • The check engine light illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
  • PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA/Snapshot data is available.
  • DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
