Evaporator Temperature Sensor Inspection

NOTE:
- Inspect the evaporator temperature sensor when it is installed to the A/C unit.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the following parts:
- Dashboard under cover (See DASHBOARD UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Front heat duct (passenger-side) (See FRONT HEAT DUCT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Connect the negative battery terminal.
- Switch the ignition ON (engine on).
- Set the fan speed to MAX HI.
- Set the temperature control to MAX COLD.
- Set to the RECIRCULATE mode.
- Turn the A/C switch off.
- Close all doors and windows.
- Wait for 5 min.
- Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Disconnect the evaporator temperature sensor connector. (See EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Measure the temperature at the blower inlet.
- Measure the resistance between the evaporator temperature sensor terminals A and B.
- If the resistance is not as shown in the graph, replace the evaporator temperature sensor. (See EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
