Tie-Rod End Inspection: Notes

Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the tie-rod end. (See TIE-ROD END REPLACEMENT .)
Inspect the tie-rod end for damage and the boot for cracks.

- If there is a malfunction, replace the tie-rod end. (See TIE-ROD END REPLACEMENT .)
Inspect the tie-rod end for excessive play.
- If there is a malfunction, replace the tie-rod end. (See TIE-ROD END REPLACEMENT .)
Rotate the ball joint of the tie-rod end 5 times.
Install 2 nuts to the ball joint and measure the rotation torque of the tie-rod end using a torque wrench.
