DTC P0850-00: Neutral Sensor Input Circuit Problem: Outline

DTC P0850:00 (PCM, VINs 7, L, M, US) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

System malfunction location Neutral sensor input circuit problem
Detection condition
  • The PCM monitors changes in input voltage from the neutral sensor. If the PCM does not detect a voltage change while driving the vehicle at a vehicle speed above 30 km/h {19 mph} and the clutch pedal is pressed and released 10 times repeatedly, the PCM determines that the neutral sensor circuit has a malfunction.

  • Not applicable
Possible cause
  • Neutral sensor connector or terminals malfunction
  • PCM connector or terminals malfunction
  • Short to ground in any of the following neutral sensor circuits.
    • Power supply circuit
      • Signal circuit
      • Short to power supply in any of the following neutral sensor circuits.
      • Signal circuit
      • Ground circuit
      • Open circuit in any of the following neutral sensor circuits.
      • Power supply circuit
      • Signal circuit
      • Ground circuit
  • Neutral sensor malfunction
  • PCM malfunction
