Condenser Inspection

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Discharge the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT RECOVERY .) (See REFRIGERANT CHARGING .)
  3. Remove the front under cover No. 1. (See FRONT UNDER COVER NO. 1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (VIN M) ] .)
  5. Remove the following parts:

    (1) Plug hole plate (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (VIN M) ] .) (2) Air cleaner, air hose and fresh air duct component (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (VIN M) ] .) (3) Coolant reserve tank (See COOLANT RESERVE TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (VIN M) ] .) (4) Cooling fan component (See COOLING FAN MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (VIN M) ] .) (5) Radiator (See RADIATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (VIN M) ] .)

  6. Remove the condenser. (See CONDENSER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  7. Inspect the condenser for cracks, damage, and oil leakage.
  8. Visually inspect for bent fins for restriction or foreign matter.
    • If any fins are restricted, remove the foreign matter.
  9. Visually inspect for bent fins.
    • If any fins are bent, use the end of a Flathead screwdriver to straighten fins.
