Clock Spring Removal/Installation [Two-Step Deployment Control System]: Notes

WARNING:
- Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. - Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] .)
- Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)
- Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the column cover. (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the clock spring connector.
- Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector. (With steering angle sensor)
- Remove the tab direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove the clock spring.
- Install in the reverse order of removal. (See CLOCK SPRING INSTALLATION NOTE .)
- Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s
and goes out.
- If the air bag system warning light does not operate in the manner described above, there are malfunctions in the system. Inspect the system using the on-board diagnostic. (See FLOWCHART [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)
