Transaxle Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor Removal/Installation

WARNING:
  • Do not perform the servicing while the ATF is hot. Otherwise, it could cause severe burns or serious injury.
  • Always wear protective eye wear when using the air compressor. If the air compressor is used, any particles of dirt or soiling could spatter and get into the eyes.
CAUTION:
  • Do not allow foreign material or water to penetrate the connector. Otherwise, it could cause poor contact and corrosion.
  1. Remove the primary control valve body.
    1. Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5] .)
    2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    3. Remove the aerodynamic under cover. (See AERODYNAMIC UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Clean the outside of the transaxle using steam or detergent oil.
    5. Drain the ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT .)
    6. Remove the air cleaner component. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5] .)
    7. Disconnect the coupler component connector.

    8. Remove the oil pan.
    9. Remove the primary control valve body. (See CONTROL VALVE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  2. Remove the coupler component from the transaxle case.

  3. Remove the O-ring from the coupler component.
  4. Install the primary control valve body.
    1. Install a new O-ring with ATF applied to the coupler component.
    2. Install the coupler component to the transaxle case.
    3. Install the primary control valve body. (See CONTROL VALVE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Apply sealant (TB1217E or equivalent) to the contact surface of the oil pan.

    CAUTION:
    • Clear oil sealant remaining on the contact surface of the transaxle case and oil pan, and clean the sealant area using detergent oil. Otherwise, oil could leak.
  6. Install the oil pan before the applied sealant starts to harden.
    CAUTION:
    • The removed bolts with spring washer cannot be reused. If they are reused, it could loosen the bolts due to spring weakness.

    Tightening torque 

    Flange bolt:  6.0-8.0 N.m {62-81 kgf.cm, 54-70 in.lbf}

    Bolt with spring washer:  8-10 N.m {82-101 kgf.cm, 71-88 in.lbf}

  7. Connect the coupler component connector.

  8. Install the air cleaner component. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5] .)
  9. Add ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT .)
  10. Install the aerodynamic under cover. (See AERODYNAMIC UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12. Install the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5] .)
  13. Perform the mechanical system test. (See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST .)
