Crash Zone Sensor Removal/Installation [Two-Step Deployment Control System]: Notes

WARNING:

Handling the crash zone sensor improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the crash zone sensor. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) Switch the ignition off.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] .)
Remove the following parts:
1. Set plate (See SET PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Front bumper (See FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL .) (See FRONT BUMPER INSTALLATION .)
3. Front combination light (See FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the bolt.

Disconnect the connector. (See CONNECTOR DISCONNECT NOTE .)
Remove the crash zone sensor.
Remove the bracket.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
Verify that the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.
- If the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See FLOWCHART [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .)
