DESCRIPTION

If a customer brings their vehicles in with DTC P2183:00 stored, repair the vehicle using the following Repair Procedure and Caution.

This is caused by the ECT sensor No.2 located near the bottom of the radiator getting wet and water entering the part due to insufficient water resistance. To correct this issue, the water resistance of the ECT sensor No.2 has been improved.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

  1. Verify customer concern.
  2. Check ECT sensor PIDs on Data Logger with Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS).
    • ECT: Engine Coolant Temperature
    • ECT2_V: ECT sensor No.2 voltage

If the ECT sensor No.2 internal circuit is corroded, the sensor output is far below the ECT sensor No.1 output due to higher resistance caused by corrosion.

Determine if the ECT sensor No.2 is malfunctioning by comparing the two sensors outputs.

  3. If the ECT sensor No.2 is determined to be "NO GOOD", replace it with a modified one according to the Workshop Manual "ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)"
NOTE: Corroded contact pins can be seen if badly corroded, but no corrosion may be seen if the pins are only corroded in back.
