Rear CROSSMEMBER Removal/Installation (AWD): Notes
WARNING:
- Verify that the rear crossmember is securely supported by a jack. If the rear crossmember falls off, it can cause serious injury or death, and damage to the vehicle.
CAUTION:
- Performing the following procedures could cause an open circuit in the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before servicing, disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor and set it aside so that the wiring harness will not be pulled by mistake.
- Align the rear crossmember component and rear upper arm and mark them.
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
- Release the electric parking brake.
- Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the wheels and tires. (Refer to WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Drain the differential oil. (Refer to DIFFERENTIAL OIL REPLACEMENT .)
- Disconnect the wiring harness clips and connectors installed to the rear crossmember.
- Set the rear differential breather hose aside.
- Remove the auto leveling sensor.
- Disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness and the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing.
- Remove the following parts:
- Floor under cover No. 2 (Refer to FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Floor under cover No. 1 (Refer to FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Brace bar
- Tunnel member
- Strut bar
- TWC (Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] .)
- Propeller shaft (Refer to PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Wheel hub component (Refer to WHEEL HUB COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (AWD) .)
- Dust cover (Refer to WHEEL HUB COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (AWD) .)
- Disconnect the rear stabilizer control link from the rear lower arm.
- Disconnect the rear trailing link from the hub support. (Refer to REAR TRAILING LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the rear coil spring. (Refer to REAR COIL SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the rear shock absorber from the hub support. (Refer to REAR SHOCK ABSORBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the rear lateral link from the hub support. (Refer to REAR LATERAL LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the rear upper arm from the hub support. (Refer to REAR UPPER ARM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (AWD) .)
- Remove the following parts:
- Hub support (Refer to WHEEL HUB COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (AWD) .)
- Rear drive shaft (Refer to REAR DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear lateral link (Refer to REAR LATERAL LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Rear lower arm (Refer to REAR LOWER ARM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove in the order indicated in the table.
- Install in the reverse order of removal. (Refer to SUSPENSION LINKS INSTALLATION NOTE .)
- Add differential oil. (Refer to DIFFERENTIAL OIL REPLACEMENT .)
- Inspect the wheel alignment and adjust it if necessary. (Refer to REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT .)
- Perform the headlight auto leveling system initial setting. (Refer to HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM INITIALIZATION
