Oil Seal Replacement

CAUTION:
  • Do not touch the splines of the drive shaft and joint shaft because oil seal could be damaged easily.
  1. Remove the aerodynamic under cover. (See AERODYNAMIC UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  2. Remove the front splash shield. (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Drain the ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT .)
  4. Disconnect the drive shaft (LH) from the transaxle. (See DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Disconnect the drive shaft (RH) from the joint shaft. (See DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  6. Remove the joint shaft. (See JOINT SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  7. Remove the oil seal using a flathead screwdriver.
  8. Install a new oil seal to the specified position using the SSTs  and a hammer.

  9. Apply transaxle oil to the oil seal lip.
  10. Install the joint shaft. (See JOINT SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  11. Install the drive shaft (RH) to the joint shaft. (See DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  12. Install the drive shaft (LH) to the transaxle. (See DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  13. Add ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT .)
  14. Install the front splash shield. (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  15. Install the aerodynamic under cover. (See AERODYNAMIC UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  16. Perform the mechanical system test. (See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST .)
