Front Seat Back Trim Removal/Installation

WARNING:

Handling a front seat (with built-in side air bag) improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings before handling a front seat (with built-in side air bag). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS .)

CAUTION:

After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever. If the slider lever is operated, the left and right slide positions will deviate, and the slide adjuster may be damaged after the front seat is installed.
Verify that there are no malfunctions in the sliding mechanism after installing a front seat.
When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean rag so as not to damage or soil the seat.
If any of the following work is performed, perform the seat weight sensor calibration using the M-MDS. (See SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR CALIBRATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] )
- Replacement with a new seat weight sensor
- Replacement with a new seat weight sensor control module
- Replacement with new passenger-side seat parts
- Disassembly of the passenger-side seat
If any of the following work is performed, perform the seat weight sensor inspection using the M-MDS. (See SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR INSPECTION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] )
- Removal of the passenger-side seat
- Loosening and retightening of passenger-side seat fixing bolts

Switch the ignition OFF (LOCK).
Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5] .)
Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more .
Remove the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the front seat belt anchor cover. (passenger-side only) (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the front seat belt lower anchor installation bolt. (passenger-side only) (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the headrest.
Slide the hook A shown below to detach it from the hook B.

Open the fastener and remove the bolt, then remove the front seat armrest.

Remove the clip A, then remove the lumbar support lever (Vehicles with lumbar support).

Open the fastener.

Cut the band securing the wiring harness.

Pull the pin out in the direction of arrow (1), remove the grommet from the front seat back frame while pushing hook of side part with a flathead screwdriver in the direction of arrow (2).

Remove the belt securing the side air bag module from the front seat back frame.

Release the pole guide tabs in the direction of arrow (3) shown, then pull the pole guide out in the direction of arrow (4).

Pulling the front seat back trim and the front seat back pad up, then remove it from the front seat back frame.
Remove the rings C in the order of (5), (6), (7), (8), then remove the front seat back trim from the front seat back pad.
CAUTION:
- Be careful not to damage the ring C when removing/installing it. If a damaged ring C is used, it could result in improper installation of the second-row seat cushion trim and the second-row cushion pad.
- If the ring C is damaged, replace the ring C with a new one.

Install in the reverse order of removal.
