Injection Volume Inspection
WARNING:
- Fuel line spills and leakage from the pressurized fuel system are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injury or death and damage. To prevent this, complete the following inspection with the engine stopped.
- Follow "BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION" before performing any work operations to prevent fuel from spilling from the fuel system. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION .)
- Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the fuel injector. (See FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .).
- Connect the fuel injector to the fuel injector tester.
- Start the fuel pump using the following procedure:
Using M-MDS
- Connect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
- Start the fuel pump using the "FP" simulation function of the M-MDS.
Without using M-MDS
- Short the check connector terminal F/P to ground using a jumper wire.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position to operate the fuel pump.
- Measure the injection volume of each fuel injector.
- If not within the specification, replace the fuel injector. (See FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Fuel injection volume
204-216 ml {204-216 cc, 12.5-13.1 cu in}/min
- Turn the ignition switch to off to stop the fuel pump.
- Install the fuel injector. (See FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Complete the "AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION". (See AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION .)
