Two-Step Deployment Control System

  1. Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more  .
  3. Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)
  4. Disconnect the clock spring connector (part wiring harness-side).
  5. Inspect for resistance and continuity between clock spring connector terminals 5D and 5F (part wiring harness-side) using a tester.

    Switch condition Resistance (ohm)
    Cruise OFF switch held at on Continuity
    CANCEL switch held at on 118.8-121.2
    SET (-) switch held at on 297.0-303.0
    SET (+) switch held at on 594.0-606.0
    RESUME switch held at on 1, 098.9-1, 121.1
    Cruise ON switch held at on 2, 088.9-2, 131.1
    Neutral 4, 266.9-4, 353.1
  6. Apply battery positive voltage to clock spring terminal 5O (part wiring harness-side) and terminal 5E (part wiring harness-side) to ground.

  7. Verify that the LED illuminates.
