Heated Oxygen Sensor (Ho2S) And Catalyst Monitor Sensor Removal/Installation - Hybrid: Removal/Installation

Both Sensors 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and the catalyst monitor sensor (CMS) electrical connectors.

    HO2S 

    NOTE:
    • If necessary, lubricate the sensor threads with penetrating and lock lubricant to assist in removal.
  3. Using the Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Socket, remove the HO2S.
    • Calculate the correct torque wrench setting for the following torque.
    • To install, tighten to 48 N.m {4.9 kgf.m, 35 ft.lbf}.

    CMS 

    NOTE:
    • If necessary, lubricate the sensor threads with penetrating and lock lubricant to assist in removal.
  4. Using the Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Socket, remove the CMS.
    • Calculate the correct torque wrench setting for the following torque.
    • To install, tighten to 48 N.m {4.9 kgf.m, 35 ft.lbf}.

    Both sensors 

    NOTE:
    • Apply a light coat of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the HO2S and the CMS.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
