DTC P2183:00 (MZR 1.5) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES

DTC P2183:00 ECT sensor No. 2 circuit range/performance problem
DETECTION CONDITION
  • When the ECT sensor No. 2 detected temperature is approx. 11.0 °C {19.8 °F}  higher than the I AT, or the ECT sensor No. 2 detected temperature is approx. -25.1 °C {-45.2 °F}  less than the IAT with the ignition switch is ON*, the PCM detects a circuit/range performance problem.
  • When the ECT sensor No. 2 detected temperature is approx. 15.4 °C {27.7 °F}  higher than the ECT sensor No. 1, or the ECT sensor No. 2 detected temperature is approx. -37.6 °C {-67.7 °F}  less than the ECT sensor No. 1 with the ignition switch is ON*, the PCM detects a circuit/range performance problem.

*: Ignition switch is ON when 6 h or more have passed since the ignition was switched to off.

    NOTE:
    • The PCM does not detect malfunctions while the block heater is operating.

    Diagnostic support note

  • This is a continuous monitor (engine cooling system).
  • The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
  • PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA (Mode 2)/Snapshot data is available.
  • The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
  • ECT sensor No. 2 connector or terminals malfunction
  • MAF/IAT sensor connector or terminals malfunction
  • ECT sensor No. 1 connector or terminals malfunction
  • PCM connector or terminals malfunction
  • IAT sensor malfunction
  • ECT sensor No. 2 malfunction
  • ECT sensor No. 1 malfunction
  • PCM malfunction
