SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CHARGING SYSTEM

Battery voltage high	Engine, generator and battery grounds Wiring, terminals or connectors Battery Generator	See CHARGING SYSTEM .
Battery voltage low or battery is discharged	Abnormal ignition-off current drain(s) Engine, generator and battery grounds Positive battery cable Wiring, terminals or connectors Battery Generator	See CHARGING SYSTEM .
The generator is noisy	Front end accessory drive (FEAD) belt Loose bolts/brackets Generator/pulleys	See PINPOINT TEST 6: THE GENERATOR IS NOISY .
Radio interference	Generator Wiring, terminals or connectors In-vehicle entertainment system	See PINPOINT TEST 7: RADIO INTERFERENCE .
The charging system warning indicator is never/always on	Wiring, terminals or connectors Instrument cluster (IC) Generator PCM	RETRIEVE continuous memory DTCs from all modules. If any charging system DTCs are found, see CHARGING SYSTEM . If no charging system DTCs are found, see PINPOINT TEST 20: THE CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON .
