  • Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.
SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 1 SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK SJB FUSE 11 FOR AN OPEN
  • Disconnect: SJB fuse 11 (10A).
  • Inspect the fuse for an open.
  • Is the fuse open?
Yes GO to step 4.
No Go to next step.
2 CHECK CIRCUIT (B/W) FOR AN OPEN
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: SJB connector J-2280c.
  • Measure the resistance between the SJB connector J-2280c pin 1, circuit (B/W), harness side and ground.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes Go to next step.
No REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the network test with the scan tool.
3 CHECK THE HS-CAN CIRCUITS BETWEEN THE DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC) AND THE SJB FOR AN OPEN
  • Disconnect: SJB connector J-2280d.
  • Measure the resistance between the SJB J-2280d connector pin 20, circuit (W/L), harness side and the DLC connector D-01 pin 6, circuit (W/L), harness side.
  • Measure the resistance between the SJB connector J-2280d pin 21, circuit (W), harness side and the DLC connector D-01 pin 14, circuit (W), harness side.
  • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes Go to next step.
No REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the network test with the scan tool.
4 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
  • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • damaged pins
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present?
Yes INSTALL a new SJB. See Smart Junction Box (SJB) , . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the network test with the scan tool.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the network test with the scan tool.
