Test Ab: No Module/Network Communication

- Check scan tool connector
Inspect scan tool connector for damage. If scan tool connector is okay, go to next step. If scan tool connector is not okay, repair as necessary. Test system for normal operation. - Check Data Link Connector (DLC)
Inspect DLC terminals for damage. If DLC terminals are okay, go to next step. If DLC terminals are not okay, repair as necessary. Test system for normal operation. - Check instrument panel fuse No. 5
Turn ignition switch to OFF position, if necessary. Remove instrument panel fuse No. 5 and inspect for damage. If fuse No. 5 is okay, reinstall fuse and go to next step. If fuse No. 5 is not okay, go to next step. - Check system after replacing fuse No. 5
Replace fuse No. 5. Remove and inspect fuse again. If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse and test system for normal operation. If malfunction still exists, go to next step. If fuse is not okay, repair circuits as necessary. Test system for normal operation. - Check DLC grounds
Measure resistance between ground and DLC connector terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Black/White wire). See Figure . If resistance less than 5 ohms, repair or replace scan tool. Test system for normal operation. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair appropriate wire. Test system for normal operation.
