System Check

NOTE:
Shutter valve actuator rod extends for 5 seconds after engine is started.
- Start engine, and let idle. VICS shutter valve actuator rod should be pulled at idle. See Fig 1
. If actuator rod is pulled, go to next step. If actuator rod is not pulled, check following:
- Loose or damaged vacuum hose or chamber.
- VICS shutter valve actuator. See VICS Shutter Valve Actuator Check .
- VICS solenoid valve. See VICS Solenoid Valve Check .
Repair or replace vacuum hoses or components as necessary.
- Inspect shutter valve rod operation. See VICS SHUTTER VALVE ROD OPERATION (PROTEGE & PROTEGE5)
table.
If shutter valve rod operation is not as specified, check following:
- VICS shutter valve actuator. See VICS Shutter Valve Actuator Check .
- VICS solenoid valve. See VICS Solenoid Valve Check
Repair or replace vacuum hoses or components as necessary.
