Possible Causes

CAUTION:
  • Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
NO COMMUNICATION WITH ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 1 NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK CIRCUITS (Y/V), (W/R) AND (R) FOR VOLTAGE
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect: ABS module connector.
  • Key ON.
  • Measure the voltage between ground and:
    • ABS module circuit (Y/V), harness side.
    • ABS module circuit (W/R), harness side.
    • ABS module circuit (R), harness side.
    • Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
Yes Go to next step.
No Verify battery junction box (BJB) fuse 17 (40A) is OK. If OK, repair circuit (R) for an open.
Verify BJB fuse 33 (30A) is OK. If OK, repair circuit (W/R) for an open.
Verify SJB fuse 20 (10A) is OK. If OK, repair circuit (Y/V) for an open.
Clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
2 CHECK CIRCUIT (B) FOR AN OPEN
  • Key OFF.
  • Measure the resistance between ground and:
    • ABS module circuit (B), harness side.
    • ABS module circuit (B), harness side.
  • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes Check the module communications network. See COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK , to diagnose the module communication network.
No Repair circuit (B) for an open. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
